Yup, that's me, holding a Python. Gulp. If you told me this was gonna happen I probably would have said "fat chance"!
Well....how on earth DID this happen? Like many things that help us to stretch and grow... kind of innocently and without much preparation. :)
I host a monthly free business group for women entrepreneurs where we share business challenges and brainstorm solutions. This month the owner of Vancouver Island Creature Teachers sent an RSVP and offered to bring along a few creatures to share with the group. Sure I said; that would be cool.
As Divine Intelligence would have it the topic we started with was "how to move to the next level in business, what does it take to level up and move out of our comfort zones".
We had a great round-table discussion that in summary looked something like this:
What is inside of our comfort zone?
We finished up with the discussion portion of our meeting and moved on to a bit of networking. Jen, the owner of VI Creature Teachers then introduced us to Houdini, a 20 year old Ball Python. Jen was wonderful, she shared some educational information about Houdini and then made an offer to the group: who would like to hold her?
As I watched the other women in the group step up I quickly realized that this was my chance to put into action what we had just been talking about. I was surrounded by a supportive group of colleagues in safe environment, I could move beyond my fears and misconceptions that I held about snakes, I could just do it. And I did!
Thank you Jen and Houdini for reminding me to:
So remember, sometimes we need to take that step outside of our comfort zones even when our hearts are beating wildly and we feel afraid...because on the other side is an opportunity to say I did it!
I appreciate your support; thanks for reading and commenting!
